92 F350 7.5L, 5-Speed HEADERS????

Has anybody tried to use the Headman headers on their 7.5l, 5-speed truck? I dont see any physcial reason they wouldnt fit, and I do not wish to pay a fortune for Banks or Thorleys.......

I don't know where they would interfere, but I do know that Hedman wants to sell headers and if they say they won't fit then I bet they won't fit. Also, I've got a set of Hedmans on my 92 460 e4od and looking back I should have saved the extra $300 and got thorleys. My hedmans are working good, but I've had to chase the collector bolts about every six weeks, and the cat mounting sucks if you have a flanged cat. You'll have to cut the flange off of your stock y-pipe and fab it onto the 3" plain pipe end supplied by Hedman. All that griping aside, I did pick up a nice boost in power. And the plating has held up pretty good over the last year.

If you have an automatic you're good to go but if you have a 5 speed it'll interfere with the slave cylinder.

I have a set they work fine if you are not going to use a cat an they clear every thing but if u do get the one with the y pipe you might have to stretch the two tubes apart that go to the headers mine were to close an would not bolt up.

Do you have the 89460's or 89510's?

Just got off the phone with a rep at hedman. He said they have no header available for the 5 speed. He said both the 89460 and the 89510 will work on an auto tranny but if you have a 5 speed they'll interfere with the slave cylinder.

I'm in the same boat right now, getting ready to order headers and realized they "say" they won't fit the 5-speed.

PLEASE do! I don't mind doing some minor modifications to get them to work. Especially the painted steel ones.

I'm a headman fan. They are excellent headers for the money. Way cheaper than all the others. I like their ball style collector socket way better than any other style.

That would be great, I'm wondering if this is true as well....I really wanna get rid of those stock restrictive headers.

Yeah, I'm gonna order a set from summit and see how they look. If it's not gonna work then I'll send them back.

Someone has got to figure this out for us 5-speed guys without having to pay $1k for a Banks set!

From the picture, the left header dumps straight down and not back toward the slave. So, I'll just have my friend at the muffler shop do his thing with that Y-pipe to get it to work. I'll post up pics when I do it.

Well I got them in (my house lol) and I am going to install at the end of the month along with my new 460. They are really heavy, nice quality for $270!!! Hopefully I can get them to fit. If they do look like they are going to fit then I gotta strip them and hi temp coat them before I install. I'll be sure to post pics when I do.
