Sorry, if this question has been asked before, I searched to no positive avail. I want to know if the 1996 F350 had mass air flow. Also, did it come with OBDII? My brother is shopping for a particular truck: 4 door, long bed, 1996 F350 (maf, obdII) 460 4x4 (dana 60's front and rear) with a C6 auto. Does anyone know if this truck exists? Thanks in advance!

No, that truck does not exist.

460 F250/F350s shipped to California and, I think, New Hampshire in 96-97 had MAF because those states had stricter emissions. All other destinations got the same Speed Density setup from prior years. I think I have seen MAF 351 trucks shipped to other parts of the country but that would have to be confirmed by somebody else.

A F350 will have a Dana 60 in the front and the f250 will have a TTB Dana 50 or HD44 according on the GVW. Both will have a Sterling 10.25 in the rear. Dana 60s haven't been in the rear of Ford heavy duty truck since the early 70s. Also, both trucks will have an E4OD unless it was a chassis cab 1-ton or bigger. Some of them, though rare, could still be optioned with a C6. Most still got the OD trans.

But that doesn't mean that you can't find a great truck. Holdout for a Cali MAF F350. As you should know, that will greatly increase your modification options. The E4OD is a great trans. It was basically an electronically controlled C6 with an overdrive added on. What few weaknesses it has are similar to the C6 and are well documented. There are many aftermarket solutions for them. The Sterling is also great. It's a true 1 ton axle with few flaws and a growing aftermarket. I don't know what your attended use for this truck will be but more than likely the major stock components will stand up to almost anything you need.
