That's great project you got there! I don't know why but I just love the trucks that have the mis-matched bed and 4x4 with 8-luggers!

I think they look kind of intimidating when set up right. Kind of like nothing is going to stop them or slow them down. Like they can drive right over the top of anything. They just look like they were built for offroading. After the early 70s they were built to appeal to more than just the for work crowd so not as tuff looking.

Of course sitting here with to much time on my hands due to minus temps outside my new plan for the 65 4x4. Wife will kill me I know. It will look something like this. Either short box or flat bed. Call me crazy but I cant help it.

Next project sitting in the driveway staring me in the face.

I can see it cant you?????

Yep I can see it. But I can also picture your wife chasing you down the street swinging one of those front fenders at you.

Heck they already have dents in them I have to work on them anyway. I told her that this was going to be the next project instead of a 2 wheel drive short box truck. She just smiled and said its a good thing she loves me. I agree. They both are keepers.

Trying to get the 352 to move by turning the crank bolt so far not much luck. Ill have to see if trans case is in 4 hi and trans is in neutral the shifter is gone so may have to jack up rear wheels and then try.

Yep you are exactly right. I don't know why they had to make the newer trucks after 1979 look so boring looking.

I kind od went off track here on this thread. I found some more pics of the 63 as it sat at a friends house a couple somers ago. I had some land scaping to do here and it was just in the way so I hauled it to his place these are just before I brought it back and tore it down. When the 65 is running in a month or two its back to this one. Stay tuned more to come.

The last pic is of course it as it sat out side my house about 3 winters ago. We got about 3 feet of snow when all was said and done. I know if this truck had been running it would have no problem getting around in that.

The bed you see in the previous pics was used on my 65. So yesterday the needle in the haystack shows up on Cl.

And a nice talegate that is not pictured. This if you can believe it is in better shape than the one that was on the 63 in the pics. The box and gate are going to a new home 1963 F250 4x4.

Congrats on the find!! That style box is getting hard to find around here. You are luckier then I am! I can never find what I need when I need it. Or if I do find it I don't have the cash to get it.

It gets tight here too. But man when you find one of these styleside beds you got to jump on it. I have been looking for about 1/2 a year now when the plan for the 65 was hatched. Thought about flatbeding the 63 to but now dont have to do that anymore just keep it stock like it rolled off the line body wise. Motor no so much. Did I mention I like the FEs in these.

Got the CL bed home on the 26th. Took some pics the next day and cleaned out some seems that were full of dirt to try and slow down any rust till I can get the bed inside and start to restore it.

Has the rust in all the places that this type of styleside bed usually does but all in all still in pretty good shape. Maybe as good or if not better than the bed I used for my 65 build.
