Exclamation Ford Econoline rear Brakes Locking up

Hello, my rear brakes have been locking up when I have been braking. No anti lock light has come on so I am not sure what the issue is? Shoes? Adjustments? Proportioning valve?

I dont feel safe driving it if someone stops short or I have to brake quickly.

Thank you,

Tony

The brakes may be flopping around, when mine had broken the hold down pins it caused similar issues because they'd shift when the brakes were applied, binding them up. You need to disassemble them, and in doing so, you'll see the problem, buy a complete brake kit, Shoes, springs, adjustment cables and hold downs.

I had to make a panic stop for a dumb college vomit that cut me off last year. Proportioning valve got stuck, two more stomps on the brake pedal got it unstuck.
