2007 F150 9.75 why not 8.8?

Good info Tylus, I didn't know the front was an 8.8. I do have an 86 Bronco w/ an 8.8 rearend, I know because I put a limited slip dif in it. I don't know for sure when they quit using the 9, but my 86 is a late year model w/ a fuel injected 5.0 (most parts stores don't have books showing the FI on the 5.0 until 87). I've got a junker 80 and 83 Broncos, I'll have to look under them and see what rear ends they have.
What's involved in converting an open differential 8.8" rear to limited-slip? Even my 4.2L manual truck spins a wheel If I try to leave a stop too hard and in the wet you can almost not accelerate hard at all, and that's with new BFG tires! Brakes are fantastic empty or loaded but most of the time the truck is empty and I'd rather pay for a LS rear conversion than carry around 500 pounds of ballast to control wheel spin.
