this is no good guys. i'm bored and about to become very drunk and possibly billigerent. i'm posting in other sections of the board which almost always equals a short term trip to the band. keep me entertained.
on the plus side i did find a d60 w/5.13's open for a grand. gonna pick it up asap when my gubment monies check comes in. ahhh kids, they make tax time awesome
EDIT: kris i found a set of narrowed d60's for a jeep for 450. i think you need them.

ok, first attempt at this thing turned out pretty tragic. it was brutal, even by my standards. lol. so i scrapped this one, pulled out the pen and paper with the measuring tape and started again. but kept the top. the top looked real good. ( and i found out i am pretty good and sprying down camo. it turned out real good. )

so that one got scrapped. i approached at a different angle and this is what i came up with.

i still have a crap ton of work to do on this, but i like this second idea i came up with way better. have two toggles installed, my cb and radio. decided to stick with my original radio becaus eit came with that 6 disc cd changer you know, so might as well. also check out this pretty good looking paint job....

i was pretty impressed seeing as i usualy cant spray worth aything. i have some more pics that i took throughout the process, but this is where im sitting right now. hopefully get alot more done today. i need to make some more cuts on the sheet coming down from the top of the dash, because i am keeping the original piece under the steering wheel, ( dont feel like making new hood release brackets and all that) after that i need to fab up a piece for my gauges to go in above the steering wheel, and then start the beautification process.

I suggest buying a tape measure, a square and a sharpie. If youre going to do this the least you can do is make the screws uniform and evenly spaced. If you put half as much effort into the appearance of the dash as you did the paint you wouldnt have to worry about using pipe strap to hold it up.
Paul, CAD one up and buy some metal. We'll make 2 next time you come down. :flipoff:

all my screws holding it together will be hidden in the end, but yes that would have been a smart thing to do keeping everything aligned, i started off with only three screws evenly across, but theat kind of shot to **** after a little while. i agree its definately not beautiful, and it is definatley not precise by any means, but it will work. and i am open to suggestions as far as ways to keep the bottom of the dash secured. i could have used the original holes in the back side to mount it, but the dash was all kinds of wavy so wouldnt work so much for the sheet metal i am using. which is why i am saying i will most likeley be using some plumberst strap hidden in the bottom and behind to mount it and cinch it in.

Do it like this.
Take a piece of 2x4 or some steel and clamp it to a work bench so you can bend it back towards the firewall like the pic above. You should be able to do this by hand but a rubber hammer could help. A torch and rosebud would speed things up but isnt necessary if the metal is 16-18ga.
