Disconnecting both batteries will reset the light. Not really any of the OBD2 scanners just hook up and work. You have to have software that reads PSD codes and data. If you'd like to be able to diagnose any current or future problems I'd look to Autoenginuity or Scan Guage, however, I do not know if Scan Guage pulls codes or not.

AutoEnginuity from Riffraff Diesel, or a ScanGauge from Terminator Engineering.

So what I'm seeing is the only difference between AE and scanguage is the AE's ability to see multiple things at once and its use on other Ford vehicles. Is this correct? Or can the scan guage be taken out and thrown into our '06 Explorer too?

That's awesome. And I guess the only benefit of having a dual scanguage would be so you don't have to cycle screens to see double the data at once?

That is pretty much true. However with one gauge you can program it to cycle 2 items then cycle to the next programmed 2 items up to 8 possible items, all selectable. When programming the Scan Gauge there is a selection of platform 1 or 2. Platform 1 is basically 99 OBDII and up and platform 2 is our OBS models. We were an after thought so they included platform 2.

I didn't know that either. VERY cool. I'm kind of thinking that this is really the way to go then. I mean it pulls codes, gives live feedback, can be 8 guages simultaneously, and runs cct/buzz tests. Wow

I'm clueless about my Scangauge 2. I have it hooked up and have the speed, RPM, & volts displayed. I have an open slot but all I get is a solid 40 for WT and nothing for any of the other settings. Is there some sort of majic this thing can do for me or my truck?

I'm talking about the Aeroforce Technology Interceptor scan guage. See it here: Aeroforce Technology Inc | Products - Interceptor. Very cool. I'm not familiar with a Scanguage 2.
