OK, both the garage door opener and the visor lights are inactive after the truck sits (I waited 15min) as long as you don't open the truck door.

Looks like the mystery is solved. Thanks for checking it out!

I guess what I'm still tryng to figure out is what happens when someone breaks into your truck. If they smash the window and then open the door, will that activate the circuit and allow them access to your garage door? It seems anytime I open my door the marker lights come on and things are re-energized, but I would not want the opener to be. So wondering if the key must be inserted for that device to come back on.

All you got to do is leave your window down lock the truck, wait 15 mins then reach in and open the door from the inside. your alarm should start going off if you do this too. by keeping the window down its the same as testing it without breaking your window. dont use your key, fob, or keyless door pad to unlock when you do this.

Nice thinking! I will give that a shot. If my vanity light fails to power during this then I can conclude that the opener will not be powered and whomever broke into my truck will not be able to break into my house. Only then will I purchase the visor with the opener.

I was one of those people who kept my opener on the visor anyways (well atleast till I left it in my friends car and she somehow manage to loose the clip???) so for me it really isn't much of a concern. If the alarm thing is correct then I'm safer with the homelink.

Ok. Experiment complete. Truck was locked, window open and left to soak for 15 minutes. Drum roll....

When I unlocked the door by pulling up on the door lock **** and opening the door. The countdown timer for the truck's alarm started AND the garage door opener worked!

When the door was almost opened the truck's alarm went off. So, it does work, but the alarm also goes off...

Thanks Marauder92V. Disappointing results. Seems like Ford messed this up bad. Guess I'll have to stick to my keychain remote. Hate that thing. Keeps accidentally opening my door when the keys are in my pocket. But better than someone being able to break into my house with my truck in the driveway.

One thing to keep in mind is that no intelligent burglar will try to enter your house with your alarm blaring in the driveway -- at least not in areas where people still take car alarms seriously.

Haven't ordered yet, but have question. I am confused (no that hard to do). If I order the Lariat with the Interior package (everything less moon roof) what integrated opener is included?

Unless something has changed on the 2012 models, no integrated opener is included. It is a stand alone option.
