OD Off Light not staying on, does yours?

I just fixed the broken wires in the shifter arm and test drove the EX. The OD is locking out as expected but the "OFF" light just flashes when I push the button and then the light goes out again (OD is still locked out). The manual says the "OFF" light should stay on until I push the button again to cancel the OD lockout.

I pulled the button apart and did not find any ratcheting mechanism which would have kept the light turned on, just a push button switch with an LED in it. Any ideas?

The OD button did not work when I got the EX so I don't have a baseline of what to expect.

Thanks,
Jasonodsky

There is no ratcheting mechanism. The PCM turns the light on and keeps it on when the OD is off.

When it flashes does it do it at a steady rate? If so, that means a code was stored. Getting that code would make this a lot easier.

The light only turns on while the button is depressed. As soon as I let go, the light goes out. I thought about it overnight and I was wondering if anyone has the wiring schematic?

I had to pull the wires out of the connector that goes into the harness and there is a slight possibility I put them back in the connector in the wrong order. I took a picture of the configuration but it did not turn out that clear for reference when I was reconnecting.

The order I reinstalled the connector wires was:
Lt Green
Lt Blue/Orange
Purple/Orange

Does someone have the schematic to confirm this is the right order? 2004 XLT V10?

Thanks, Jasonodsky

Follow up: I cracked the column open and swapped the following wires in the connector:
Lt Blue/Orange
Purple/Orange

Reconnected and all works fine $50 in my pocket by fixing the wires

Thanks Mark! Reps given.

Here to hijack:

I'd like to get enough of the schematic to trace the wires back to the dash. I'm tired of replacing shifters, or even pulling the column to repair wires. I want to wire a toggle switch on the dash, but need to know where to hit the wiring, without tracing it back from the shifter.

Anyone else done this? If not, anyone got enough of a schematic for this non-electrical guy to understand it?

Thanks!

I don't have a schematic. You don't want to use a toggle, that will not work right. You need a momentary contact, normally open switch. Write that down, any electronic supply house will be able to sell you one of those switches.
