i have the paddle mirrors on my 05' excursion and i want to install the tow mirrors. i saw a truck today, same body style as mine and he had the 08' and up tow mirrors on it. he said that he had to remove the mirror lense to access the screws to take the housing apart then he had to switch 2 wires. otherwise the signals would be backward. i have the heat and signal in my mirror and i really like the 08' and up tow mirror, has anyone done this swap or is there a how-to or write up on this? i don't really care about the power extend version but i want the heat and signal to work. anyone done this?

 

Check out Monsta on here as I believe he has made the swap to the '08 mirrors.

I know there are others also...but I happen to remember Monsta...he may have pictures in his gallery...although I think he may have sold his Ex?...if he did...I'm sure he has some how-to on the install of the mirrors if he did it!

Also Wallz has the '08 mirrors on his Ex I believe...

Yep, been there done that.

The reason some take apart the housing is to fix the move left, right (adjustment) on the mirrors. The wires are crossed over in the mirror itself in the 08 mirrors. Some leave as is and when they want to move the mirror out to the right they actually move the switch adjuster to the left. And vissa versa for the other way. I could not live with it that way so fixed the wires in the housing to work properly. All the info is in the super duty forum tech folders.
