how to get ready for the snow season?

One other thing that works like magic for traction in the snow... Ashes. Ashes out of the fire place do wonders for traction, just back up a bit, sprinkle some in your path, and have another go at it. If you've never tried it before, give it a shot.
I usually keep a pale with ashes out by the back entry so whenever a guest is having trouble getting in the the drive, I sprinkle out a generous path in front of the drive tires and they can get right up the drive no problem.
It's also nice because ashes are free of course.

I just check all the fluids in the truck, most importantly the differential fluids, tranny fluid, change the oil, power steering, and make sure I have plenty of antifreeze (premixed 50/50). Then I make sure the heater is working good, and dig my pulling chains out of my toolbox and make sure they are in good shape (no stress cracks or breaks). After I think I have it ready, I take it for a quick trip through the pond to make sure the 4x4 is still good and strong. I have the same set of tires on this truck year round, they are country squire R/T's, and I love them. I make sure my brakes are working properly, and change the pads and turn the rotors if needed. This year I am going to pull the spark plugs and clean them up a little, might replace them, but haven't decided for sure yet. After all this, I wait for the snow to fall and hope we get enough to "get stuck" with a cute girl x2 on the ashes. Its a bit messy but it works. I coat the tire paths in our driveway with it so my mom can get up/down the driveway with her car, so I don't have to pull her, haha. Also, in a pinch I have cut open a sand bag from the back of the truck and that adds some traction too.

My friend skyfox here is correct. This is why I'm using sand this year. While still a threat, it isn't nearly so much as a bed full of cinder blocks. Please be safe! Our familes drive on these roads too!

Anyways, I didn't realize it until I was getting my stuff out of the car before it was put up on the tow truck, but the loppers that I had sitting in the hatchback area had embedded themselves into the dashboard and it took a good yank to get them out. Just glad they didn't find my head.

Same here. I worked a few weeks trimming raspberry bushes some years back. I was driving an 87 Toyota Celica at the time and had a lady in a Tahoe pull right out in front of me. This was a five lane stretch through town, and she claimed she thought I was in the left lane (which I couldn't have been).

oh yes, best part was i wear glasses..took me a few mins outside of the truck to reliaze i could not see. my glasses ended up UNDER the brake pedal. the rear seat arm rest was pulled out. ofcourse it was a pretty good wreck, i was doing 30-35mph and she was aroud 15-20mph and it was basicly a headon hit. be safe out there!

My tires are from co-op but they are not the same as the ones you showed in the picture. And they do not make my tires anymore either I REALLY wanted another set and I can't find them anywhere. As for the getting stuck, it works for me every year I always "magically" get unstuck right after all the fun. hehe. Its amazing what a little snow and a big motor can do for you
