1600 mile road trip in the 57 ~ OH to SC

Well almost........1592 to be exact. The wife and I left Canton,OH last Saturday after work and headed south on 77 towards Charleston,SC. I don't have many pics but the good times and people we met over the week were fantastic. ~ not sure how my date stamp got changed ~
All in all the stock 272 "y" block (true mileage?), stock 3 speed, 325 gears ran great.

Our stats were these along the highway..........
44 dead deer + 2 alive
1 dead bear
2 dogs - alive
49 broke down cars
1 accident (which stopped us for 45 min on the highway)

The wife says these shots are hard to catch........ into VA

Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge, also known as the New Cooper River Bridge from Charleston,SC over to Mount Pleasant, SC.

The bridge has a walkway. We walked over an back. About 3 miles total.

Friday we headed out to GG Charlotte. Here I am strapping in for a free ride on the autocross. Thanks to the gal from Detroit Speed for taking me for a ride in the Nova. DAM she can drive, I was part of her fastest lap of the weekend. THAT WAS FUN!

Saturday morning on pit row.

making my lap............

and finally back home.

Later, Bill

You forgot ...... about the wild man yelling at you with a van and trailer trying to get your attention!!!

I knew that had to be novatatoo aka Bill......his 57 looked so retro in that traffic jam.....LOL
Wish he and I would have met on the southern trip for me and towing a 56 b.w. to Florida.......that would have made for some cool pics.

Oh trust me Bill, I'll never forget that incident. My wife was like " no freaking way" you just seen someone you know on the highway. I grinned and said "yep sure did"

Later,Bill

Who says them y-blocks don't run? Look at that max speed 97mph!

Any idea of how many miles you have put on that truck?

Nice to see one driven without all of the ifs/power everything setups. -Andrew

That was a glitch as we came out of one of the tunnels. Honest officer <!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

No clue Andrew. 2 trips to TN and this one to SC. I really have no idea but LOTS!

Nice to see one driven without all of the ifs/power everything setups. -Andrew

Bill,

Thanks for sharing. You are living the dream by taking your truck on such road trips. I hope to do that one day!

The pic of the GPS in front of the '57 dash is priceless. What a contrast. Congrats on the trip.

Sweet trip! The best road trip I ever had was driving my 1960 from Maryland to California. There's nothing better than seeing the country at 60 mph with the windows rolled down and a y-block under the hood singing (albeit at 3000 rpm).

Would've love to have seen your truck; you passed within six miles of my house if you came down I-77 south from Charolotte; Columbia SC exit 22.

The 325 gears and 235/75/15 tires gives me 2700rpm at 70mph.
