Dealer put 10-30 in it last oil change. Said that is their new, year-round oil unless I move to Alaska or Minnesota. I asked "What about Wisconsin?" and he said 10-30...Apparently he's clueless on basic geography.

I use full synthetic 15w40. I live and work in a cold climate in the winter (-40C) and anything that can help in that cold is worth it's weight in gold.

Curious why you wouldnt go with something lighter? 5w40 or even 0w40? (or 10w30)

No it's not Amsoil, heard too many horror stories, I run Shell Rotella. Longview I have always run 15w40 on the advice of several people and several dealers. I thought about going lighter in the winter but it's been performing great for me and I don't like the idea of changing back and forth from lighter to heavier oil and prefer to stick to one.

Fair enough, as long as its working then I agree, no need to change.
I think once I switch to 5w-40 (rotella t6) im gonna stay with it, even in summer.

Brandon, do you mean full synthetic 5w40 or standard 15w40? I don't see Shell making a full synthetic 15w40.

We buy Rotella T 15w40 by the drum, I know you guys are pretty wrapped up in your pickups, but we have to protect $325k Deere 9770STS Combines and Shell does that for us. When you have a 2 million dollar wheat and barley crop on the line, you can't cut corners.
