Our 2000 xlt w/the 4.0L just ticked over 280K last night. Its never had the engine worked on, just routine stuff that wears out. It still runs and drives like the day she drove it home. I've been chasing a misfire on #4 but I think we cured it. She just bought a newer 2003 edge version so this one is getting retired to "extra truck" status.

Just ticked past 115K on my '07 with the 2.3l
Just had the upper ball joints replaced and new front pads. Did the rear drums last year and other than oil changes and tires that's about it.

I bought it when diesel was about $5.00 per gallon as a way to offset my running costs and figured if I drove it just 50% of the time I would have saved enough to pay for the truck in 2 years. I actually drive it about 80% of the time and it is still running strong!

Just passed 120,000 on 2001 standard cab 2wd 4.0L manual trans.
replaced fuel pump, brakes, clockspring, anti-theft transceiver module, changed out wheel bearings on front, change oil at 6000 miles or less.
Planning to replace spark plugs per the Ford schedule and having the driver seat repaired/reupholstered.

I have a 94 Ford Ranger with a 2.3L 4cylinder engine, with a little over 200,000 on it. Did the: vavle cover gasket
Vacuum hoses
EVP solinode
PCV vavle
Starter
Clutch
Coils, wires, and plugs.
The truck runs great, just leaks out the oil pan gasket (not looking forward to replacing lol). know almost every thing about this engine, reply if you have any questions about this engine!

Upwards of 500k on my 95 ranger 2.3l still going strong only issue recently was a thermostat (had original from assembly line) and has only had a harmonic balancer, power steering pump, and slave cylinder replaced in the past. Minus regular maintenance. No one really counts that lol. For that many miles and few issues that explains why im a ford guy.

Got rid of the Ranger at 239 000 km. Oil leaking somewhere from the block and the thing was rusted out underneath.

Just replace the oil pressure sending unit and no more oil leak. It was leaking about 2qts. A week. Let me know if you can't find it haha.

Daily driver just crossed 300,000 miles

'99 XLT Super Cab w/4.0, 5 sp. It's my daily driver and I just crossed 300,000 miles. Original engine, original transmission, original PS (although it whines, I haven't had to replace it). I replace the timing chain, water pump and thermostat every 100,000 miles.

It's at the point where it could benefit from a valve job as there's a slight coolant leak in cylinder 4, yet it still runs strong. I'll do the valve job along with the 100,000 mile timing chain, etc.

I love this little truck!

2002 Ford Ranger

357,000 miles. Two wheel drive, std. cab flare side. 4 cyl 2.3 with 5 spd manual. Work commute truck. Round trip 120 miles a day 4 days a week plus about 100 to 200 over the week ends. Original engine runs smoothly with no smoking. Use Amsoil 25,000 mile oil. Replace oil filter and 1 qt. every 5000 miles, then on third change at 15,000 miles I replace with 4 quarts and filter. Other than regular maintenance, replaced radiator, two clutches, air intake manifold, and recently the exhaust system. Purchased Ranger used with 50,100 miles on it in 2005.

Awesome. I assume you have the 4.0 overhead valve V6? What's entailed in replacing the timing chain?

2002 Ranger XLT 2wd, 3.0L with 98,000. Recently had to do front end work and replaced the negative battery cable that had frayed. We've only owned this truck for about 10 months. First owner must have babied it - interior looks like new.
