I forgot to answer this in my last post...
They show up on ebay at a rate of about 2-3 a month...but most of them are the 85-87 w/2.3 Mitsu diesel, far fewer are the 83-84 w/2.2 Perkins diesel.
Depending on condition, mileage, etc. expect to pay anywhere from $500 to $5,000 (the earlier Perkins Rangers bring in more money).

I have 257,000 miles on my 89 2.9 motor. I am on my second clutch and flywheel,3rd starter, second radiator third heater core second driveshaft.
Also replaced valve cover gaskets. That's it. Just did a compression test and got readings between 158 and 150. I don't know how to interpret those readings. Can you help?
Thanks

My son has a 2001 4.0 2wd auto. with over 400,000 miles on original engine and transmission. Neither has ever been worked on, except Spark plugs and wires.
Never has had a water pump put on it.
He drives it approx. 160 miles every day, 5 & 6 days a week.
It still only uses a slight amount of oil between changes.
He is very proud of his Ranger. I think RUST will be the thing that kills it.

94 Ranger Fuel Line Leak
Hi and thx for the welcome. I have a leak where the steel braided fuel lines coming from the engine connect to the plastic lines below the PS unit which go to the tank. It is a coupling that has rusted. Having trouble finding one and/or how to remove or replace it. New here, please help. Would post a pic, tried but unable to do so yet I guess.
Thx,
Rich

Well, I pulled the trigger and bought A REPLACEMENT Ranger. It's a 2WD, black 2006 XLT with 110K miles, regular cab, 4-cylinder backed by a 5-speed. No frills except A/C, which I may remove if it seems too parasitic to the power department. Thus far, the only other thing I would change to the '06 is that it doesn't have a sliding rear window, which my '94 has and I will likely miss that. I suppose I could always locate a slider for the '06 and slip it in....and I may just do that.
My thoughts are to sell the ol' '94 (with 309K miles) while it is still a good driver and let it go live out the rest of it's life taking some kid to school or someone to work. The box on the '94 has gotten pretty rusty around the rear wheel wheels and catches on my clothing when I'm loading/unloading stuff from it from the side. The cab-to-frame mounts and the radiator support-to-frame mounts are also becoming very rusty and are wanting to collapse...so I've decided I'm not going to repair all those mounts and just let him go.....
I'm pretty certain the wheel bolt circle is the same between the '94 & the '06, so my extra set of wheels for the '94 (outfitted with winter tires) should bolt up onto the '06 without issue, which is a good thing. Once I put a fresh tank of fuel in the '06 and put a few miles on it, I'll report back in with my thoughts.....Later fellas!

Does anyone here have one of these?
Ford introduced the Ranger EV (Electric Vehicle) for 1998. Powered by a rear-mounted 90-horsepower electric motor, the EV claimed a top speed of 75 mph and a range of from 35 to 50 miles from conventional lead-acid batteries mounted between the frame rails. Anti-lock brakes, dual airbags, and an electric heater were standard; air conditioning was optional. Shared with standard 1998 Ford Rangers was a regular cab that was three inches longer than before, allowing for more legroom.
