Durability of the Lariat Leather
#46
I had a 2008 F-250 Lariat with tan leather that I traded off this February. It had about 120K on it.
There were no tears or open splits in the leather. The drivers side edge, where you slide your butt over getting in and out had some very fine, thin cracks. These were not open cracks, more like wrinkles. I thought it held up so well, that I got my new F-250 with the Lariat leather interior and I tend to keep trucks for 10+ years.

I too tend to keep my vehicles for 10+ years. This is the first time I am actually selling a less than 2 year old truck to move up to the f250. My 16 year old SUV (not Ford) has leather and it has held up very well with no noticeable discoloration or cracks.

Echoing other comments, on my personal truck, a 2012 Lariat with black leather, the leather for both front seats still looks virtually like new. I do a preservative treatment once a year, realistically, and I do vacuum any dust or grit out of the seams whenever I vacuum the carpets (that's one of the most important parts to keeping the leather from getting trashed). But the leather is superbly durable. Looks better than a Mercedes, a Bimmer, a Volvo, and a Subaru we have. I'd have no hesitation getting the Lariat black leather, and in fact when comparing it to King Ranch leather from the same vintage, the black looks significantly better and untouched.
