My 1990 F150 has been revving up like mad. I touch the gas a little more than idle and it revs up like crazy. I push a little more and it starts to arc like crazy. I think it might be a chip but I can't figure out how.
It is such a strange problem. At first it seems like the clutch was slipping but it does this in neutral as well. Any ideas. I get 15kph in first gear and 50kph in 3rd.
I changed the IEC, tested the alternator, mad sure the MAP sensor hose was clear and tested a couple of other elctrical devices that I can't remember the name of now.
I think this is a chip because it just sort of happened one day. It didn't gradually build into something and it hasn't got worse. Like my right upper and lower ball joints.
Thanks for any input

Is the engine actually revving way up, or is the tach needle jumping around? I ask because my tach does this, and it could be just another possibility.
Could it be that is just sounds like it's revving up but really isnt?
I'm thinking that maybe the clutch fan is seizing which makes the engine really roar when you give it some gas.
