License plate frame (restoration)

Okay, so I'm planning on dropping these plate covers on my rig:

I bought a couple of cars out there years ago...

But they're clearly in need of a little TLC:

Any suggestions?

I grew up in Torrance, California. My dad had a '66 F250, so whenever we needed parts, we'd go to "Vel's Parnelli Jones Ford" on Hawthorne Blvd. Back in the late 60's and early 70's, they sponsored a funny car and top fuel dragster that Danny Ongais drove. I would LOVE to find a pair of license plate frames from that dealership (it's long gone). I've been searching on eBay, and I haven't had any luck. Anybody have any ideas where I should look?

Paint remover ,sand paper, primer and 2 finish coats.

You can remove the plaques with a hair driver or heat gun and a putty knife then glue them back on when the other part is painted

Yeah, I am in the same boat (almost) I am looking for frame like that from the Ford dealership that I worked at years ago with my dad, (Bill Forbes Ford). I was never a big fan of advertising for free on my vehicles, but I thought one or two of these would be neat to have. A few of the guys I was going to look up who might have them have passed away in the past year or two, which is making it more difficult.

There is a still a few around who I believe might have them, just got to go pay a vist. My other option is to check out yard sales, or public auctions in that area, which I don't get there to often.

Sorry for highjacking the thread, but a great idea to have some of the old pieces on the trucks. I would sand it down and start over.

Funny part is, I remember when I worked at the Ford garage, we had boxes, and boxes and BOXES of those frames and TONS of vehicle brochures, that every year we tossed in the dumpster, (brochures).

I was reading posts on here from a few years ago that a prominent former member on here was travelling around Canada and the USA collecting dealer plates and plate frames from every dealership he visited.

He ended up wallpapering his office with all these plates.

He must have 100's of them.
