Might as well make a game out of it,
Well, my truck is on the flat bed headed for Bud at OC Diesel Shop in Mission Viejo CA. I will put up the symptoms and see who has the best diagnosis as compared to what Bud tells me in a couple days. First best guess gets a Navy Seabee T shirt.
Few weeks ago started getting a "miss" at 3/4 throttle and higher, in the mid RPM range. Only had it when I ran my street or tow tune. Ran great with the Extreme tune. (SCT Tuner, Innovative Diesel Tunes)
Changed out ICP and checked ever wire and connector i could for chaffing. Nothing.
On Monday morning it developed what I would call a lope. Sounded and felt like one injector was not firing. Once you got the RPMs up, it straightened out.
I parked it for 3 days will I was out of town. This afternoon I flew back in and jumped in the truck. Started it up. Lope was VERY pronounced. But seemed to subside when the operating temps came up.
A block out of the parking lot. I had ZERO power and tons of black smoke. Pulled over, let it sit. Started again. Ran great for a block. Same thing.
Pulled into a parking lot and thought what the hell, let me change out fuel filters.
Did that. Fired up, but still had no power. Now it wont start. Called tow truck, now it is off to Bud.
So what's the call?
Here is what I have done to the truck so far.
2004 F350, August 2003 Build on Truck and Motor
SCT Tuner
Full Gauges
Air Dog Pump and Filter
EGR Delete
2005 Intake (Got rid of the toilet Seat)
64 mm Non VGT Turbo
ARP Studs
New FICM (2 mos ago)
Only one question per contestant. (yeah, like that will work)

i second the ficm being out. has nearly the same issues. they were spread out over a month or two. i was really nervous when i started the truck and had zero pedal response and i was up in the mountains where i about 30 miles from the nearest town that had a mechanic much less a car lot. and 400+ miles from home

My personal guess is injector related. I hope the FICM is not the issue. If it is, gonna have a talk with Swamps.
I've went through the connectors and harness multiple times, not that I couldn't have screwed it up, but I sure hope not. If it is the connector, I'm gonna give up shadtree'ing.

well heres the question did they do a ballon test to see if its all 3 injectors or just one. IMO with 1,3,5 down and the truck not starting....
I would have them replace 1,3,5,7 and install NEW INJECTOR HOLDDOWNS. failed injector hold downs is the biggist cause of this type of concern.

They are going to replace all four on that side. Is there any benefit of doing the other bank now? What is the likely hood the other side is gonna have probs?
Is there any possibility that the mis-programed FICM caused the injector failures? I know it is a stretch.
Oh well, play those games win those prizes.
