transfer case vibrations and soft brakes

ok, i have 2 issues here. victim is a 2000 f150 5.4 4wd automatic trans. i had a vibration that i thought could be a bad front bearing. when i was having my oil changed, i had the shop check it out. they said the vibration is coming from the transfercase. how hard is it to rebuild one of these, and has anyone written up a walk thru?

second issue, my brakes are soft and won't pump up. when i press the pedal down, it takes a lot of petal movement to get the brakes to start grabbing, then the pedal will sink to the floor after stopped. if i need to slam on the brakes, i'd plow right into the guy in front of me. there are no fluid leaks in the system. is this a bad master cylinder?

thanks!

ok, update for the brakes. when the engine is off, i can pump up the brakes and they hold pressure so i don't think the master cylider is the problem. if i have my foot on the brake pedal, than start the engine, the pedal drops a bit, so the boost seems to be fine as well. i went to bleed the lines and ran into an issue. the last owner completely rounded off both of the bleeder screws in the back. one is so bad that he snapped the nipple right off. i'll have to try to get these out this weekend. the front look pretty rusted as well, but untouched. i'll soak them with penetrating oil for a couple days before trying to get them out. perhaps bleeding is all i need to do! (i hope!)

Vibration

I have a 4.6 and about two years ago i had a similar vibration i took it two several transmission shops and no one could figure it out what it was. I finally took it to another shop and the problem was that the transmission was loose as in the bolts were loose around the bell housing I got a long extension and tightened them up and so far so good. I had to use a long extension and do it by feel. I spent a lot of money before someone figured it out. I can't tell you why it happened all I know is it happened.
