1996 f250 dash lights

Hello. I'm sure this has been covered but I need advice/instruction on replacing the behind dash lights on my 1996 truck.

Any help or direction to a previous thread would be appreciated.

Thanks

I have one out on my '96 F-250 and plan on replacing it soon, so I'm curious, also.

LED swap is popular. I did it to mine a while ago. Really easy.

This is pretty simple. Pop off the two strips on the cluster bezel. They match the strip accross the rest of the dash. There are screws behind it. After you remove those gently pop the bezel off. If you have an automatic you may want to move the shifter down. Removing the headlight **** is a little tricky. You need to use a small screwdriver or pick type tool to pull it off, there is a small tab on it that you need to pull towards you. After that you just remove the cluster mounting screws and tilt it down so you can get to the bulbs. I would replace all the 194 bulbs with long life bulbs for illumination, indicators, and warning lights while you have it apart. That way you don't have to open it up again anytime soon. Be careful not to damage the circuit board.

did all 6 gauges for my 96 exp a couple weeks ago---i stuck with the standard bulbs, 2 pks were a couple $'s a pack... no sweat- they just twist out, I would at least do the main gauge bulbs all at once. I was down to only one still illuminating the dash....hard to see much at night, but the orig bulbs gave her 14 years of dimmer controlled lighting...didnt see a need to go led with that track record.

Thanks...

for all the help. Looks like this place is a great resource. With a 96 diesel with 230,000 plus on it I can use all the help I can find.

Anymore detail on the headlight ****? Is the tab inside the slot in the ****?

How long will this thing run anyway??

I know this way too late, but I replaced mine this weekend. There were nine for dash lighting and another five warning light bulbs
