What have you done to your truck today?

Well, nothing today but over the past week, I've set up dual tanks in my 80 flareside haha. I should have a thread on my build soon (phone internet blows and I'm bout to move) almost looks factory. I do have an issue with fuel going between tanks though. From looking under trucks with with fuel injection, the lines spliced into one another so I wonder if I missed something or not.

Your selector valve has to have a port for the return coming back from the regulator and ports for the returns to the tanks. And, the valve has to be working properly. They work off the pressure from the in-tank pump and they don't always line the inlet and return up properly. I've seen them draw from one tank and return to the other. Makes for interesting problems.

With the returns Y'd you'll be returning some gas to both tanks and will have an overflow problem at some point. As for the pressure, you will have to be running both in-tank pumps all the time. I would set it up the way it should be with the proper selector valve managing which tank is in use.

Quite interesting indeed. As I have it set up right now (and worked for about 30 min) the pressure lines from both tanks are connected via a Y fitting (pulled from a newer dual tank f150) as with the return lines all before the inline fuel filters and high pressue pump. I was copying what I did from what I saw on two newer fuel injected fords. All the bullnose I found were all mechanical with just a pressure line or single tank
Staring in 1990 Ford switched to high pressure in-tank pumps with shuttle valves in the pump modules, the gauges and senders also changed. These trucks have the two supply lines connected together and the two return lines connected together. These had a recall for fuel transfer between the tanks. It involved adding a check valve on the supply line at each tank. The item in the circle is the check valve on my rear tank.

I hope you used a tach cluster for another 80 truck or you're gonna have a few problems. lol.
Today I took a nice long look at my new Radio bezel, and realized that I really want to redo my headliner and have the seat re-upholstered so my interior will be complete. Oh yea, I need new carpet too.lol.

Pulled the old seat out of my '84 XLT and vacuumed the carpet. Got it ready for the '92-96 tan bench with fold down arm rest in middle and lumbar support that I am using for a semi temporary seat until I can find a nice '80-86 seat. Still have to go pick it up at a buddys house.
I also pulled the carpet back and was pleased to find that it still looked new, no rust starting.
Can anyone tell me what the black panel along the back is? None of my other F150s have this.
