Grey Ghost and I took out longest trip today. 45miles out and back. She appears to have turned in fair mileage, even if she is rowdy as a bull empty on the highways. Coming back I didn't drive. My 5'2" mother drove, absolutely hilarious to watch. I'm pretty sure she sat on two moving mats folded up. But, she hasn't lost her ability to jam through gears.

I was driving this coming home

If you zoom in very closely the three dots at the top of that hood ornament are visible. Mercury. 1987 Colony Park, 130,700 miles. AOD works, engine is tight. "Accidentally" hit a gps indicated 105mph on the way home with it.

So far she's all original and clean. Few hours elbow grease tomorrow and she'll look good. Little things like rear windows aren't working. I'd got a good 8 inches of paperwork to go through. Also, can any of you give me a ballpark age on these boxes? In the rear stow I found about 15 boxes of unopened tuneup parts.

Thing is, except for the questionable looking coil, the rest of them are unused/ sealed. This car has moved 500+/- miles since January 06. Could get hilarious real quick haha.

I took a battery with me. Oiled and hand turned the cylinders. Checked the wiring and parts. The rotor, cap, wires are visibly new. I'll be pulling and checking it all of course. Had the seller (owns a svc. station) drain and refill the tank. Turned the key and she lit right up! Idled a bit rough and stalled when I let the throttle out. Started again and she idled fine. Didn't die, arguably got better, in the ~20minutes I was checking things out. By the time we drove all the way home she was running as well as my uncle's DD 302. Checked the temp with a gun and read 195*F.

True. It also had no box. Either way, I'm pretty excited. If nothing else I can throw some things from the shop in the hull and make more than I spent in scrap.

And yep, my aunt and uncle used to have a built 70's Colony Park. I've got big plans for this one. Some new heads, possible FI, T-56 trans.

That's cool they saved the old parts; if they're factory, the ID numbers can help in locating the correct replacements.

That distributor pickup looks pretty good to me.

Never thought I'd run across a young'un gettin' all hot 'n heavy over an old station wagon........makes me wonder...........

...that I'm secretly a middle aged woman? Not most kids in general. At concerts/ events/ my hobbies I'm usually under the median age by a couple decades. Plus, what's not to love? It's enormous and hilarious. Closest I can get to the opulence of a 50's luxury car with over 9mpg and parts availability.

It seems to be a hodgepodge mixture of parts. After Jim's insight I went and looked again. That stator was in a sealed box. Those 2425 Autolites are sealed. I think he's right that the others were put into boxes and kept as spare. I do the same thing...

Making my shopping list for tomorrow morning .

By the way: box in the mail for you. And, holy smoke is the same radio so much louder in this car. Granted it's premium sound, but I almost hurt myself with the volume haha.

That's why I like these things! They get decently loud - much louder than lower-grade systems - because they have built-in amplifiers. Have you noticed the heat sinks on the back?

And, these things plug into factory wiring, use factory mounting brackets, and everything just works.

'til you start playing around with 4 speakers and using non-factory parts & configurations but that's a different story. I'm now on a quest to get one of those Premium things from a mid-90s sedan - the kind with two (separate) amplifiers and a subwoofer, those things rock!
