Jerry Hop, I am 63 so we saw pretty much the same. During the gas wars I actually bought gas for 14.9 cents a gallon, $3 could fill my 52 chevy up. Those were the days

Started my rear axle swap yesterday, it is going to be a tedious job to say the least. It took me two hours just to drill out three of the rivets holding the hangars to the frame. I have 29 rivets to go.

I am swapping the rear suspension too, because there is added capacity in the donor truck.

I am really hoping the front end is easier.

I haven't done much to any of my 80-86 trucks. Fixed the transmission in my '95 F-150 and got her back on the road

Also, bought a '95 Chevy K2500 extended cab with a 454 last night...

Chump, you need to be buying a 1980-1981 Ranger trim truck instead of Chevrolets.

I didn't do anything to my F100 today, however 30 years ago today my F100 rolled off the assembly line at the San Jose, California production plant. Happy Birthday ol truck!

I think the engine in my 83 took a crap today, bellowing smoke out the oil cap, dipstick, and PVC, puking oil out the rear seal, wont run for crap, have to hold foot on gas and brake to drive it.

Trust me, I would of rather gotten a nice 4x4 Ford truck. After the first snow everyone thought their 4x4 truck was worth a trillion dollars. Then after the second snowfall prices increased AGAIN. Plus, people I contacted about their trucks for sale either didn't return my calls or were too busy to set up a time to come out and look at their vehicles. After a week and a half of this, I finally found the Chevy for sale in central Wisconsin. Drove out there, got lost, and finally found the place. I was impressed by the fact that this truck was BURIED in snow behind a row of pine trees with no signs that anyone had been near the thing in a while (according to the guy it's been a month since he started it). I trudged my way out to it, cleaned the snow off the door, and she started up on the second hit and purred away happily in the single digit temp. It's a little weird owning a Chevy again, I haven't had one since I sold my Blazer in '01. I bought it for towing purposes and I think she'll work out fine... still wish it was a Ford.
