Oil leak through Heads?

Hey Guys, I usually hang out in the Excursion and V10 forums but have a question. A guy at work has a 2004 Escape. He recently changed the oil from 10w30 to 5w20 synthetic. Since then the Escape has been leaking oil. He took it to a local mechanic who told him that it was leaking through the casting of the head. He said Ford had a TSB on this and the only way to fix was new heads around $3000.00. This sounds fishy to me. Any of you guys heard of such a thing? Thanks in advance, John

I read about a problem with the 2.3 dohc in the Ranger having porosity problems. I *think* it was near the thermostat housing, but won't bet my paycheck.
Change back to the thicker oil and see if it stops. A lot cheaper than replacement heads.
