I have a 5 speed manual transmission on my '94 f250. What do these transmissions come geared as stock? What are the benefits/downsides of these transmissions?

 

Gear ratio

1st - 5.72
2nd - 2.94
3rd - 1.61
4th - 1
5th - 0.76


They're very very complicated and very expensive german transmissions. Very good to!

I have 568km (377k miles) on mine and I never done anything to it, it's still got the original clutch to!


They are more sensitive to clutchless shifts than the old T19 4 speed was, but still easy to clutchless shift a ZF5, if you do miss it, they grind very loudlly.

And they use automatic trans. fluid.

 

Thats the ratios for the gasser ZF, the diesel is as follows:
1st Gear: 4.14
2nd Gear: 2.37
3rd Gear: 1.42
4th Gear: 1.00
5th Gear: 0.77

Mine has around 450KM on it, the first 405 behind an IDI, and the rest behind the PSD, works fine still.
