Newbie w/ 66 F100
Just finished up another project last week and brought it to its first car show..
Today I dragged out the going on 10yrs of ownership
1966 F100 Short Bed Custom Cab
Pretty nice all original Arizona since new & rare Orange/White 2tone
300 6 Cyl Automatic
Today is picture and documentation day then tomorrow I start to tear it apart!
Another reason I have not started project is could never make up my mind which engine combo to go with. It changes daily. How about a little feedback on which engine to go with?
my ideas below
1) 1966 427 SIde Oiler 2x4's because I have one on engine stand & also have a Cobra Jet C-6 for FE
2) Boss 429 using Kaase Components
3) 5.4L Shelby GT500 engine with auto trans (because I have a GT500 & love the engine)
4) 7.3L Diesel because its my daily driver engine and love it
5) 6.0 or 6.4 Diesel
6) 429 or 460 PI because I have one of each
7) Keeping the stock 300. Not high on my list but will for sure do concours detail and rebuild just to have it to put back to stock.
Nothing will be modified where it cannot be easily be put back to stock
I also have Power Disc Brakes and Power Steering from a 77 F100.
Only mods in external appearance will be lowered but not totally slammed and custom made wheels in larger size where I can use my stock NOS hub cabs
pics to follow
edit add: this is going to be a frame off Resto Project

Looks good!
A vote here for the side oiler!
The diesel engines are too heavy for what you want - and would require too much work in terms of axles/suspension/engine mounts etc.
The 5.4 would be nice, but too much work for what you are going to gain from it.
Either the Boss 429 or the side oiler, and because you have the side oiler sitting there and doing nothing, it might as well be under the hood!

Only items I need for the S.O. are a custom roller cam and a set of roller rockers. Pretty much everything else on hand. (the solid roller I have for it now is a bit much for an auto trans)
Need some feedback on what all of resto I should post.
Any thoughts appreciated as do not want to over post the project.

Spent most of day picking up the metal needed to make carts for the cab and box.
Stripped the hood (very very nice), made stand to hold fenders which I will use for stripping paint (one done), priming,. blocking & the painting.
Carts for cab and bed will have adjustable height and work in concert with my hoist.
larger framework is upper portion for cab cart/stand. THe small adjustable deally bopper I made to hold the 20' pieces while cutting to size. Seems like I made more mess than anything!

to make it clear.... I am just showing how *I* am doing this resto and in know way am saying its how it should or shouldn't be done. And yes this is my first pickup restoration (complete) Did a 77 F150 years ago but was not a frame off and did not do the undercarriage.
Seeing as this is my first on a older pickup any suggestions to make it easier would be appreciated.
Is it ok to post a pic of my last resto? A 4yr project but not a truck but a FoMoCo.

Bill, Lived in AZ for over 20yrs and have current place for sale so we can move back. This truck is from AZ as is my Boss 302, daily driver and others.
I really had a hard time trying to decide which way to go with this truck too. It has only been in last week when I decided to tear it apart before I had any direction.
427 SIde Oiler it is but color is still down to 2 choices. Because its a super rare 5M paint code would like to have it those colors but really love the Calypso Coral on my Boss. Only problem is the interior may not match up that well as found NOS material for seat which should be done next friday.
Am adding disc brakes and power steering and will drop it a bunch but absolutely no mods to body or chassis
