Newby Intro
I have a 1965 Ford F100 with a 390. Yes, It is a 390, measured and triple checked
I will post pics as soon as I can, but be warned, while she is great under the hood, the body needs lots of LOVE!
For starters, Anyone got a lead on a truck bed?
Also, Money is an issue, as I am sure it is for all, but I live on disability, Being a fireman and a Police Chief, and other High Speed low drag stuff
took a toll and I punched out early before the body locked up like a neglected motor!Ask away if you have any questions, I know I have a lot of them!
Sounds liike a good project to get you "wrenchin". My advice is to get to know the salvage yards in your area and frequent them. I see you're in Montana...gotta be some near you...I have a slew of them near me and I make a day out of it every few weeks, and often times, find some good things. Most of the beds I've ever come across look pretty good, but hey, this is California. Network among some other Slick owners in your area too...you'll be surprised how much that'll help, and craigslist.org can be great too...you can even do ebay.com searches for cars close to you....within 50-100 miles.
Good luck!
Everytime the wife gets on me I let her know my home made wine, fishing, hunting and truck habbits dont keep me in bars chasing skirts, and suddenly she is ok, lol.
I have looked at a lot of the yards around here and they are hurting for my year truck parts.
I would like to know if a 64 F100 doors and bed would fit on my sixty five.
Also, Does anyone have differential info, and axle info on this? Axle code is A9

64 doors are a direct bolt on.
64 bed in short bed will need slight mods in the mounting.
64 long bed will also need slight mods in the mounting.
65 A9 indicates it left the factory with a 3.54 dana rear and was a limited slip. 3300# capacity. This may not be what is in there now as rears were a common swap.

The wife is leaving me alone now as I fixed the O2 sensor fuse for her in the Jeep, lol
It is a longbed styleside, and I will take some pics of it all so you can see what I am looking at as the passenger side needs lots of love, but as far as mechanical stuff goes, I still have a oil leak to find, but is it just me or do some of these bolts magic themselves loose?
I got a Chiltons Manual from the library, took a spiral notebook and started putting notes down. Here is what I got so far.
Bear in mind, it is a 65 with a 390, Four speed manual
VIN: F10DK637867
Steering box tag: HCD B 4M29B
Intake manifold: C5AE9485BA41
Carb C5 TFY
Was told the A9 axle is the Dana 60.2, but I will confirm when I crawl under to get the number today as a previous poster said rear end swaps were normal, however, this looks pretty original to me.
Also, I would like to put straight pipes on the exhaust, any advice?
My goal with the truck is to be able to have a great looking truck that runs, and Has a good top end as I do a lot of highway travel living in Montana

took a toll and I punched out early before the body locked up like a neglected motor!Dang; I hope after my 20yrs for Uncle Sam and now as a firefighter for my town; I don't lockup!

Just kidding;
As others mention "Welcome Aboard", Are you looking to restore (Frame off) or just fix and repair as needed?
The standard rear axle was the Ford 9" inch. If Limited Slip was ordered, Ford usually installed the Dana 44 (1959/67 F100's and some 1968 F100's).
1963/65 F100: The Dana 60.2 with Limited Slip was optional / 1966/69 F100: The Dana 60.3 w/Limited Slip was optional.

Right now I am looking to ensure it is running and safe. Then I will delve into the body and full restoration. As I will do most of all of it, dont know if I will get the frame off unless I trade some home made wine for help! Let me know if your in Montana! We can swap lies and work on the truck lol
