1971 4x4 body swap for 69 2 whl

Just joined to get some advice or concerns. I have a 1971 Highboy f250 thats body is rusty everywhere. But the chasis is fabulous. I also have a 1969 2 wheel drive camper special f250 that the body is in great condition. What I want to do is put the 69 body on the 71 chasis. The 69 is an auto trans. And 71 is a standard trans. I imagine i will have to cut holes in the floor of the 69. And swap out the pedal assembly from the 71 to the 69 cab. I did a power sterring remod to the 71 about 10 yrs. ago. And it still works great. I also have a 1966 super marauder 428 engine I'm going to use in this project. The 428 came out of 66 mercury S55 marauder. The car was wrecked but the engine was great and total complete. The 71 chasis has a 390 in it right now. I rebuilt about ten yrs ago. It still runs very nice. So thats my up and coming project. Any advice or warnings of about what I'm about to attempt would be very apreciated. Thanx Much! Troy.

so it is gonna be a 428 manual f250 4x4?

sweet there really aren't any problems doing any of it but what you have already seen. at least none that have been reported by any one else.

your 428 is the same outside as your 390.
your bodies are the same.
as long as both frames are the same length ie both 8 ft bed or both 6ft beds then you bed will fit just fine. as will your drive line since that doesn't change.

Ah welcome to the site. Here you can get all kinds of answers some good and some not so good. But that's what makes the world go around..In your swap you can just swap the center hump cover if it's not the welded in one. Can't remember the yr and model that I've come across that was welded in but for the most part there bolted. So that should not slow you down. Cut a hole for clutch rod is all that I can see. And give those front cab mounts a good checking out with a ice pick or screw driver poking them all over where you think it would be rusted out cause there a real bear to change while the body is sitting on the frame and fenders in your way. Plus if you have to ever replace them don't buy the cheap ones. I made the mistake and one cracked after about 5 yrs.of use. So Dennis Carpenter inc sells oem ones and cheaper ones that maybe ok for a 2wd truck. But if your like most guys go with the ez way and put in poly spring eye bushing when there needed. These also harden the ride and bigger tires plus getting off road once in a while then the cheap ones will fail you..my 2cents
