Mine gets stored from about now until about May 1st. It's also in an unheated garage on concrete. I check the antifreeze level to be sure it has enough, add fuel stabilizer to the tank and disconnect the positive battery post. I do have a cover for it. I put a 2 Amp charge on it overnight when I'm ready to start it next Spring. That it...

There seems to be a couple of different storage routines suggested. I'll throw mine in, nothing too elaborate, have been doing it this way for ten years and haven't had any abnormal problems starting in the spring. I park my trucks in a pole building with a dirt floor and haven't noticed any ill efforts to the underside of the trucks. I dump Stabil in according to instructions and after I have them in their winter resting places I dump oil down the carb goosing the accelerator linkage until I get a good cloud coming out of the exhaust and then leave the engine choke off. Disconnect the batteries, cover and then good by until the Spring. The shed I park them in is at the back of the farm and inaccessible most of winter. I do go down once in a while during the winter to check in and say "Hi", but other than that they're on their own until Spring.

Are you running the stock rear axle and changing gears or swapping in a newer one?
