thats 1 more strike towards just ponying up and replacing my exhaust system..im really tempted to add a Cherry bomb, and deal with the current CAT, as i strongly suspect its plugged...

headers

I have a 2006 350 and I see all the mods that p-nut has with the coverter and the evrything, I see everyone talking about headers from ebay what type of headers are you using off of ebay, Do you think if I do these to my V-8 that it will have the same results?

The 2005 and up SDs with the 3 valve modulars are different than the earlier 99'-04' SDs. Your 06' has much better exhaust manifolds and better exhaust system. The only way I would go to headers in your truck is if the headers were long tubes.(Good luck finding long tubes for the 3V SDs though) Your best bet IMO is to go with a tuner with custom tunes from a good dealer that knows what they are doing.

06 v-8

A tuner is the better way to go? What about the cat i see that he says that he is getting around 1-1.5 better mpg with the cat from summit. Then I also see that banks has an complete kit with new hearders, cat and also bigger muffler and all the pipe but its like 1400 and if it isnt going to work then its a waist of money. But the whole banks kits say all like f-150 with the 5.4L V-8 so I think is not going to be the right kit. What kind of tuner do you prefer? Any help will be great

I can see picking up 1 or 2 mpg with a new cat IF the old cat was clogged. Going from a functioning stock cat to an aftermarket cat isn not going to do anything to help your mpg. I have an aftermarket cat, long tube headers, tuner, full aftermarket mandrel bent exhaust and an intake and my mpg did not improve at all, I just got more power.

I think you will feel the tuner will be the best bang for your buck. As for the tuner I run an Xcal2 with tunes from Mike at 5 Star. 5 Star is one of the good shops out there. I'm a fan of the Xcal series of tuners because I don't want any noticeable tuning hardware left on the truck. I would recommend getting the Xcal3 which is the latest version in the Xcal line. You DO NOT want an off the shelf version of any tuner.

As for the Banks products the only thing they offer for the 05-up gas SDs is a cat-back exhaust. I don't forsee their F-150 header products fitting properly on a SD however I can't confirm that with complete certainty. The Banks headers for the 150 are shorties anyway.

Don't be insulted but I'll offer my personal experience. I went from 50psi to 60psi in my load E tires and picked up at least 1mpg ,probably closer to 2mpg. My buddie runs his at 70psi. I don't like the ride at 70

The best mpg I got in my truck is when it was completely stock. Granted the tires I have on now are larger in diamer and width as the stock tires. (235/85 stock and 285/75 now.
