What are you getting with it? Increase tire PSI to max on sidewall, drive it nice is about the best you can do.

1. 6637 Mod and 3" down pipe will help engine breath better.
2. Cat delete will also help.
3. Sealed up pipes so no boost loss.
4. Sealed intake (after turbo) so no boost loss.
5. Deteriorating MAP hose will cause poor boost detection.
6. Bad MAP sensor will cause poor or no boost detection and will cause you to have you foot into the go pedal more than necessary.
7. Proper fuel pressure makes a big difference.
8. Turbo blades in good shape, not nicked up.
9. Proper oil changes.
10. Chip usually will get you 1-2 MPG if you can keep your foot out of it.

The drive train also can contribute to fuel mileage. Good fluids, good u-joints, sticking brakes, front wheel bearings, proper tire pressure, good engine and transmission mounts. All these things can effect mileage.

Thanks for all the tips!... How do you seal off these pipes? Can you install a wicked wheel?

Thats wayyyyy low. I just got 21mpg going up to the Texas Diesel Roundup last weekend. Of course that is chipped and all that fun stuff vs. your stock tuning, intake, and probably stock downpipe. Mine used to get 16.5. I'd say make sure your tires are aired up to around 60-80psi if your tires can handle it, check for boost leaks, do a 6637 intake, aftermarket downpipe, and guages. drive by the guages. If your accelerating, try not to make any boost. That will make you accelerate kinda slow, but not horrible. Remember, the more boost you make, the more fuel your chewing up. The list that Jim made for you is a pretty nice list to look into.

Do you have 3.55 or 4.10 gears? Auto or manual trans?

Edit: Our STOCK turbo compressor wheel IS the wicked wheel. In other words, SD guys upgrade to our compressor wheel.

Anyone out there w/ 4.10's and a manual trans? what do you get for mileage? My stepdads 12v cummins w/ 4.10s and a manual trans only gets 14.5 and those 12v's got good mileage. I'd say you will probably top out around 16-17mpg w/ mods, but I hope you prove me wrong!! With 4.10s the RPMs are just too high at a normal cruising speed to get good mileage. Try keeping your RPMs down around 1850-2000 RPMs and see what that does for ya, but that will probably kill your cruising speed a lot. At 65mph w/ 3.55s I'm turning around 2000 RPM as it is so it would probably be screaming w/ 4.10s

16-18 depending how hard I push it, and thats with my 90 mile drive to work at 75 MPH. I've got a bunch of minor issues that need tended too.

Does strieght piping the muffler do any good? I've heard its a strieght though type and it wont make a differnce, but I figured I'd ask.
