I have a 1995 f150 4.6l v8 with 212000 miles on it i regularly maintenance i changed the tranny a year ago and it worked just fine then all the sudden the torque converter just stopped locking so now i do 60mph at 2000 rpms instead of 1500 and so im burning alot of gas what could be wrong with it? is it a sensor or the torque converter? The engine still has alot of power amazing torque
There is a solenoid in the trans pan attached to the valvebody on the 4R70W that controls torque converter lockup. It may be bad. It could also be a bad torque converter clutch. Is the OD light flashing on the end of the shift lever?

It's possible that the bulb on the OD light is bad, or something else is going on. You need a good quality scanner/datalogger to see what's going on. There are several things that can cause the TCC to stay unlocked.

If i take it to an advanced auto and hook it up shud i be able to find out the problem?
Maybe...but that's a big maybe. Dunno what scanner they're gonna use,and most of the time they use a generic scanner that will not get powertrain specific codes.
