how to get smoke while sitting still?

I just saw a youtube video of a 6.0 sitting still, holding the brake and getting on the gas and making his truck smoke like crazy. My truck is tuned with an EGR delete and I can't make it do this to save my life. It smoke like crazy if I romp on the throttle really fast while sitting still or moving, but I can't just sit there holding the break and pressing the throttle at the same time and make it do it. What mods do I need to do?

Not even going to ask why as I probably wouldn't understand.

I suggest you place a plastic bag over your air filter, then rev the motor. That'll give you some smoke....

I would say the cheapest thing is to try a diff tune. Some tunes make smoke some dont. Elite diesel has a "full fuel at low boost" option for their tunes. That will give ya some smoke i bet.

I still want the power, I don't think it would be very good for if to ride around like that. I could just see me pullin up next to a ricer at a red-light, hopping out and popping the hood, putting a bag over the intake, getting back in and smoking the hell out of it, then not having any power to leave him...don't feel like gettin laughed at.

There are 2 things you can do.

1. Install a smoke switch, which is basically tagging into a wire on the turbo and running it to a toggle switch which will not let the turbo build boost. You can do a thread search on that and find out which wire that is, i never wanted to do that because i've heard its bad for the turbo if you do it too much. (this is probably what the guys in the video had)

2. If your truck is an automatic just put it in 3rd and start to brake torque it. You can usually find the sweet spot where it will dump smoke without building too much boost to start lighting up the tires. You will never be able to do it in Drive with out spinning the tires, it just builds power to quickly with a tune.

Yeah I'll try the 3rd gear thing. I've heard a lot about the smoke switch but never wanted to try it cause no boost means no power...and black smoke to me should mean LOTS of power

Damn, I thought just maybe I could sneak just one smoke thread in without somebody asking this question.

But since you asked...to make ricers feel like ricers.
