4r100

Got the transmission rebuilt, installed the tugger kit and the boost valves. new torque converter. everything is great, I love the shift, but it sure takes its sweet time going into reverse. Once it engages it is all there, but it takes a good 3-4 seconds to take hold. Any ideas, or is this normal.

Noticed that with my valve body... everything BUT reverse is quick. I wonder why?

maybe the solenoid takes to much line pressure to overcome ?

as in a spring thats to stiff ???

just guessing here..

That sure is a guess. What do you mean? I can't figure out how anything like that could possibly be happening inside the transmission.

My guess is that either there is a problem with the reverse clutch seal, or the clutch stack, or you're impatient. Reverse is always slow on a 4R100. Have you timed the reverse engagement with a stop watch?

The three little bolts are tight, the cluch pack air checed perfectly. It seems to take twice as long as any other, but most people seem to think it is normal, so I will just leave it be.

Is the tugger kit supposed to make the forward reverse shift quicker?

IMO tuning is a must with a VB, the VB only addresses the mechanical side and leaves all the sluggish stock parameters.

The kit never says (that I saw) it makes forward or reverse quicker. That was not my reason for putting the tugger kit in. I love the way it makes the trany shift. I was just hoping it would make it a bit quicker in reverse.
