88 F350 to 4x4

Hi everyone, just joined the site and have a question. This may seem like a repeat question but I didn't want to hijack Dutters' thread as his question dealt with a 1/2 ton. I was wondering if the front drive axle from a 95 F250 would bolt into an 88 F350. Both trucks are manual 5 speeds. The F250 has the 5.8 while the F350 has the 7.5. An auto wrecker told me a couple years ago that it would be pretty much a bolt in as both are independent front ends. The 95 would be a donor vehicle so all parts are available. Anyone here with any experience on this?
Thanks

no experience on my end but i have read and read on it because when i graduate i plan on doing this, but everything i have read and reasearched shows that it is a bolt out, bolt in operation.. when i do it i'm planning on just getting the tailshaft off of a m5odr2 that acepts the transfer case..
also i have found that the trans, case with the floor shift is the easiest to swap in, and i prefer the floorshift over the push-botton..
also everything you read in dutter's thread also applies here..
and welcome!

Thanks for the reply and welcome. I was hoping it wasn't going to be a major transplant. I've been eyeing an 88 F350 Lariat Crewcab that a neighbour a few miles away has had sitting for a few years. Only has 180,000 km (about 112,000 miles) on it, all highway. Only problem is it's a 2 wheel drive. I was inquiring about the conversion when an auto wrecker mentioned it would be a straight swap with a 250 front axle. Then other things came along and my plans changed a bit. Now he wants to sell it and he has a 95 250 with a deck on the back I want too. The 250 is rusted and underpowered for the weight it would be carrying. I can get both trucks for less than $4,000 so now the wheels are turning again. Would the 5 speed trannys be the same in both trucks so I could just swap tail shafts? I don't really need a 4X4 but they're really handy in the winter here in Central Alberta. If anyone else has any more info they wish to share I appreciate all points of view. I have until the weekend (Oct. 16) before they advertise locally so I should make a decision by then. Thanks again.

just search and read and read and read, the internet is your best friend whenit comes to reasearching these customswaps and builds and such..
and as for the trannys just look at the door tag, if the same code for the trans is there, their the same..

Ok I looked at the door stickers tonite. The 88 f350 has a z for transmission code. The 95 f250 has a w. Both are 5 speeds. Would the tail shafts be interchangeable? I'm wondering if the code difference is because one is a 4 wheel drive.
