What is this part leaking oil?

It is leaking oil like crazy on mine, circled with arrow at it. Bolts were loose enough it was vibrating when I was looking for my oil leaks today. Only leaks when running.

Yup, that's the mechanical fuel pump, often called a lift pump. You have a gasket between the block and pump that is now oil soaked and possibly busted up from the rattling around so you might wanna replace it, though if it's still intact you could probably go for years without leaking from that spot again, haha. (been there, done that)

are you sure?

Thats the cleanest motor I've ever seen. Are you sure it's leaking oil! LOL sorry couldn't resist. Seriously though if you pull the pump to replace the gasket, there is a process. Search for more info in this forum, or stay tuned someone else might help you out.

Tightened up the bolts and not a drop since . It made most of that side look like it is covered in asphalt so the PO must have let it leak a long time. I picked up a spare gasket now that I know what that parts is just in case since its so cheap.

It would be my recommendation to replace the pump if you pull it to replace the gasket ...

Why, they are not super easy to get to and they are fairly inexpensive ~$40.

-Enjoy

I was thinking of going ahead and replacing it to make sure it is sealed for good when my return line kit and viton orings get here. Might as well try and get as many dirty, smelly bits done all at once. Starting to look like I am going to have a lot of new parts on this truck. Lots of time though now that I am unemployed, but sure will miss the company car with free gas to pick up things I forgot or broke while working on it.
