Claiming up to a 50-percent improvement in efficiency, companies and local governments are flocking to XL Hybrids.

Earlier this year Ford Truck Enthusiasts was present at the NTEA The Work Truck Show, where we had the opportunity to meet the folks of XL Hybrids among other commercial truck upfitters.

According to a report from NGT News, the upfitting company is being approached by more potential clients, after delivering excellent results for their current portfolio of customers. After all, making a good impression on companies like DTE Energy of Detroit, and San Diego Gas & Electric Co. (which just announced a huge expansion deal) has paid great dividends.

Clay Siegert, XL Hybrids’ co-founder and chief operating officer told reporters, “Our plug-in hybrid technology is an upfit on the reliable, road-tested and popular Ford F-150. With the OEM powertrain intact, fleet customers will maintain OEM warranty and service. Those are two of the benefits of XLP and the reason major fleets are placing order commitments to be among the first to get this PHEV pickup truck.”

XL Hybrids’ XLP plug-in hybrid electric Ford F-150s are in high demand. And now, companies like the City of Long Beach, and Southern California Edison and Tampa Electric are interested in making the switch.

Furthering the company’s advantages, the Ford factory warranty remains untouched, while XL Hybrids attaches a three-year, 75,000-mile warranty to every Ford F-150 XLP. The hybrid upfit can be installed in just two hours, and will be available for the 2017 and 2018 F-150 with the 2.7L EcoBoost engine with auto start-stop.
