Wild Saleen XP8 Explorer for Sale on Craigslist

Explore your favorite ’90s memories in this sleek and seductive blast from the past.

Fire up your Sega Genesis, put on that Gin Blossoms CD, and don’t forget to set your VHS to recordĀ Friends. We’re taking a trip back to the ’90s to check out a totally fresh Ford Explorer.

We’ve written about the Saleen XP8 Explorer before. The white-on-white example we initially spotted was, what we thought at the time, the most ’90s color combo possible. Earlier this week, we stumbled upon another one of these rare trucks on Craigslist, in a gorgeous ’90s teal!

We’re totally buggin’ over this thing. With only about 125 produced, the Saleen XP8 Explorer was a rare bird, and we can’t imagine many are left, especially not in teal. According to the owner, only two were made in this dynamic color. While the Explorer wasn’t a treat you expected to find in a Saleen wrapper, it was readily apparent that this was a fitting stablemate to the Saleen Mustangs of the day.

Our previous article outlined the basics, but we’re happy to break it down again: a 286 horsepower supercharged 5.0, upgraded brakes and suspension, and custom-embroidered Recaro buckets. Outside, viewers were treated to an aggressive body kit, the trademark Saleen stripe package, and Speedline wheels.

This example is particularly well-optioned, with wood interior trim and steering wheel over teal leather. It’s a classy match with the teal green exterior, and it’s so ’90s it hurts. Also along for the ride is an optional Saleen Borla exhaust and a roof rack.

With just 40,000 miles on the clock, this rare SUV looks to be in great shape. It would be a great companion to a Saleen Mustang from the era. If you’re ready to turn back the clock – and your ball cap – find it here on central New jersey Craigslist.
