I have a lot of respect for people who put in the effort to modify their vehicles. It takes a lot of focus, patience, work, and time. However, there’s a lot to be said for factory settings. Automakers such as Ford have the time, money, and staff to test systems and components exhaustively and to make sure they fit specific applications.


For instance, the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor will feature “next-generation BFGoodrich All-Terrain KO2 tires specifically designed for off-road performance.” It’s safe to assume its 17-inch wheels will be equally suited to handle rough terrain (I’m thinking beadlock units like those that were optional on the 2013 Raptor).

The aftermarket wheels on the Dodge Ram you see here are not. Watch the aftermath of one of them failing in spectacular fashion in the following video.
