What Ford Truck Options Do You Want That You Can’t Get?

Ford trucks come with loads of options these days. But what doesn’t your truck come with that you’d love to have?

These days, Ford trucks come packed with so many options our window stickers read more like War and Peace than Old Man and the Sea. From infinitely adjustable heated and cooled seats to more cameras than your average tourist spot, the list just goes on and on. But despite this glorious abundance of useful features, people will always want more. And that’s the idea behind this thread, started by Ford Truck Enthusiasts member PupnDuck.

“What option do you wish you could have on your truck but can’t? I’m not talking about an option that’s only available as part of a zillion dollar option package or only available on top trim level trucks. I mean an option that just simply is not offered by Ford as a factory option but you wish it was. Even something that would not be practical to do as an aftermarket upgrade.”

It’s an interesting question, and one that might actually catch the eye of Ford truck developers. So, we were very curious to see what our members had to say. Right off the bat, that involved lots of useful suggestions regarding cameras.

“I would like to be able to turn the backup camera on when the truck is not in reverse,” said Midnightmoon. “On my van, you can hit the mode button on the radio display and turn the camera on to look at your hitch, etc. It would be nice to be able to do the same on my F-150.”

“I’d like the front camera to come on automatically at speeds under 10 mph,” added stufarmer. “I’d also like the side cameras to come on and stay on as long as the turn signal is activated.”

SKAGGS77 has a pretty cool idea that would give his Ford truck an “open air” kind of feeling.
“I think I would like an option where the entire rear window was able to be rolled down. My first vehicle was a convertible Mustang, and my Dad had an early Bronco. An open air concept with all four side windows and the rear window down, plus maybe even an open dual panel moon roof sounds great to me.”
For triniexr, it’s all about keeping the kids entertained on trips.
“I am a bit spoiled and use this as a family vehicle mostly. So I would like if Ford could integrate air suspension, reclining or movable rear seats, fold out tables, a rear entertainment system, and under seat storage like the Super Duty.”

And onug touches on an idea that we’re totally on board with. Especially since Chevy now offers a factory-installed leveling kit.
“A ‘Raptor Lite’ package. I’ve spent roughly $3k on full skid plates, shocks and tires. How about offering a real off-road package with a 2” lift/level and honest off-road gear to replace the stock stuff. I don’t need a Raptor, but I do want something between the FX4 and Raptor.”
All of these ideas sound pretty great to us. But we’re also guessing that you’ve got at least one great idea to share with us (and maybe even Ford). So head over here and tell us what options you’d love to see available on your next Ford truck!
