What Do You Think about Ford No Longer Making Cars?
And like many of us, ib_jigged admits that he (and everyone else, apparently) hasn’t actually bought a car in a long time.
“Not really a surprise here in NW Minnesota. Our local dealer has only 4-5 new cars on the lot with 20-30 trucks and SUVs. Cars don’t sell well in this area. Even very few on the used lots as well. Seems if people are looking at cars they are Honda, Toyota, or Kias in these parts.
2 years ago, we looked seriously at a new Taurus, but decided on an Expedition. We haven’t owned a car since 1997 when we sold our ’90 Beretta and bought a new Explorer. We have had 2 Explorers, 1 Edge, 3 Expeditions, 4 F-150s and 1 F-350 since then. Always an SUV and truck at the same time. My wife just prefers an SUV over a car. With our ’16 Expedition now getting 15-16 mpg in city driving, we are good with that and can pull over 20 on the highway as long as we stay under 70. My ’12 F-150 with an Ecoboost is working fine too.”
So even though we all hold a soft spot for the lowly passenger car, it’s pretty easy to see why Ford is getting ahead of the game here. Like any good business, it pays to build and sell what customers want. Not to mention what makes you a tidy profit. And right now, that’s trucks and SUVs.
But we still want to know what you think. So head over here to join in on this fascinating discussion.
