Washington State Ford Truck Show Doubles as School Fundraiser
Fugate Ford dealership is hosting the special event on Aug. 11.
It’s that time of year again. School is in session (or soon will be), and that means hopping in your F-150, Explorer, or Expedition to shop for new clothes, backpacks, and supplies. For most parents, the only headaches are navigating their school’s shopping list, and hoping everything on the list is available.
For other parents, however, the only headache is wondering if they’ll be able to afford anything on that list. Thankfully, there are kind hearts out there, such as those at Fugate Ford in Enumclaw, Washington, a sleepy burg 21 miles southeast of Tacoma. Enumclaw Patch announces that the dealership will host a school supply fundraiser and Ford truck show on August 11.
The truck show was started last year by Fugate Ford’s parts manager, Keith Westby, which gained its fundraiser component from the dealership, benefitting Nexus Youth and Families. The first show raised $600 for the charity, which used the proceeds to buy backpacks stuffed with school supplies for students in need. The show also drew in 40 trucks.
Truck show marketing coordinator and Keith’s wife, Jennifer Westby, says this year’s event has already received $900 in donations. Meanwhile, Fugate is making plenty of room in anticipation of even more trucks appearing this year, whether they arrive on a trailer, or roll up straight from the farm.
The free-for-all event is family friendly, and will be held Sunday, August 11, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be a Ford F-350 waiting to be filled with school supplies, and the event’s organizers will give away 20 backpacks filled with supplies that day. On the truck show side, $1,500 in prizes will be up for grabs, donated by local businesses such as Platinum Real Estate, Vape Hub, Outlaw Diesel, Pacific Northwest Ram, and, of course, Fugate Ford. There will also be a raffle, and lots of free food for those in attendance.
