Throwback Thursday: Eddie Bauer Explorer Dazzles

By -

The Eddie Bauer Ford Explorer offered premium luxury, segment exclusive features, and a 292-horsepower V8!

This week’s “Throwback Thursday” video features a TV commercial for the 2007 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer Edition. The high-end SUV was named after the premium outdoor outfitting brand, which as expected, included a long list of standard premium features.

The exterior of the Eddie Bauer Explorer had a unique two-tone paint scheme of red with gold at the bottom of the vehicle from front to rear, a unique grille, a package-specific badge, keyless entry, and trim-specific 17-inch aluminum wheels.

The interior of the ritzy Explorer featured light-colored leather seats, automatic headlight control, an auto-dimming rear view mirror, a new driver information screen in the gauge cluster, and power folding third-row seats. At the time, the Explorer was the only three-row SUV in America with power-folding rear seats, and even today, such luxury is only found in premium SUVs.

The 2007 Eddie Bauer Edition was propelled by a 4.6L V8 engine, which produced 292 horsepower – one of the most powerful large SUVs sold in America back then.

This 2006 TV commercial touches on each of those key features with the help of an active family heading out for a day at the park.
