Tuned EcoBoost F150 Runs with a Blown Silverado: Truckin’ Fast Wednesday

By -

Massively modified Silverado barely beats the near-stock EcoBoost F-150 in the quarter mile.

This week’s Truckin’ Fast Wednesday video comes to us from the Dylan Huckeba YouTube channel and it features a newer Ford F-150 with the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 taking on a supercharged Chevrolet Silverado. We generally do not showcase videos where the Ford loses, but when you consider the margin of victory and the mod list, this EcoBoost-powered half-ton puts up a remarkable fight in this race. Really, with a slightly better launch, the Ford could have gotten to the finish line first.

The Competitors

The race in the video above takes place between a 2018 Ford F-150 and a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado.

The Ford is a rear-drive truck with the new 10-speed automatic transmission and the 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine. That engine is making more power than stock thanks to the MPT 93PR-X tune and it has drag radials, but those are the only go-fast modifications.

The Chevy has four-wheel-drive, the 6-speed automatic transmission and the 5.3-liter V8. That engine is fitted with a ProCharger supercharger, methanol injection, headers, cat-less exhaust and a tune, so the Silverado has a variety of advantages and should be the clear winner based on the details.

The Racing Action

After we get beauty shots of each truck, we head off to the race track for some grainy footage of the action. We watch from trackside as the two launch and head down the track neck-and-neck. The race is too close to call the whole way down, but after both trucks hit the brakes, we see the win light come on for the Chevy.

We also get to watch the race from someone filming while standing behind the Ford on the track and from this view, it is no clearer who wins the race.

F-150 Vs Silverado Time Slip

Fortunately, the video ends with a look at the timeslip, with the ProCharged Chevy running a 12.9646 at 107.58 miles per hour while the F-150 runs a 12.9815 at 108.54, so the Silverado was 0.0169 seconds quicker while the Ford turned the quicker trap time. It was an incredibly close race, with the built Silverado barely beating the tuned V6 Ford.
