Accentuating the quiet interior, the Ford Explorer now gives drivers an option to digitally detox and just enjoy the drive.

As technology has evolved, so has the high-tech features offered in your ride. And for the most part, we love it. Infotainment systems offer so much to keep us connected on the road. So much…that sometimes, you just need a break. Going off the grid isn’t really an option. But the 2020 Ford Explorer offers a new system that gives us a chance to unplug and just enjoy the ride.

The new Explorer will have its quietest interior yet. And to further chill us out, it will offer a Calm Screen display nicknamed “Mindful Mode” on the digital cluster. When activated, “Mindful Mode” strips away all data so drivers need only fuel, speedometer, and the road ahead.

“We live in a world of ubiquitous screens, and the information can be overwhelming,” said Lee Newcombe, Ford Explorer brand marketing manager. “New ‘Mindful Mode’ in the all-new Explorer offers a break from the constant stream of information and alerts bombarding us by giving drivers the option to disengage and take a moment for themselves away from the chaos technology can wreak.”

Drivers still get all the important information they need, but can tune out the excess of noise and information. And above all else, it returns the driver to the satisfying pleasure of the drive itself.

“It’s no secret many people are tethered to their devices, engaging with screens at all hours day and night,” said Sheryl Connelly, Ford global consumer trends and futurist. “People are increasingly aware of and alarmed by their device dependency. Yet if there’s one opportunity throughout the day to reduce your exposure to digital demands, it’s when you’re driving. Ford’s new Explorer can serve as a sanctuary from chaos and distraction.”

In addition to its new 12.3-inch digital cluster, the new Explorer also offers multi-contour seats, crisp 14-speaker B&O sound system, plus new Ford Co-Pilot360 Technology driver-assist innovations including available reverse brake assist and Active Park Assist 2.0 for added peace of mind. The 2020 Ford Explorer will be arriving this summer.

Sometimes there is nothing better than turning on some great tunes, settling back, and just enjoying the road.
