Truckin’ Fast 2012 EcoBoost F-150 Makes 620 Horsepower
This week’s Truckin’ Fast video features a 2012 Ford F-150 with a heavily modified 3.5L EcoBoost V6. The video, posted by the folks at MPT Performance, refer to this as the Most Powerful F-150 EcoBoost and while I cannot confirm that claim – I can confirm that this truck is a beast.
In the details, they refer to this as a “stock engine” F-150, meaning that they haven’t actually changed any of the internal engine components, but they have changed pretty much everything around the engine…and they added a nitrous setup. In reality, this 2012 F-150 has new turbos, a water/meth injection system, new downpipes, new charge piping, a cold air intake system, a Nitrous Express wet kit, a new torque converter and other items needed to make everything work together with the best results.
In this video, the MPT team is slowly working the boosted F-150 up to the big numbers, starting with a run purely on meth injection (no nitrous) with 563 hp and 661 lb-ft of torque. When they turned the nitrous system on with a light shot, the horsepower jumped to 584 while torque dropped to 655 and after larger nozzles and some tuning efforts, the EcoBoost F-150 laid down 637 horsepower and 703 lb-ft of torque. One more run with some tuning changes and the team got their final numbers of 620 horsepower and 716 lb-ft of torque.
