Truckin’ Fast Wednesday: F-150 Stomps Chevy Silverado

By -

Never underestimate the mighty 3.5-liter Ford EcoBoost!

This week’s “Truckin’ Fast Wednesday” video features a quarter-mile drag race between a 2015 Ford F-150, and a late-model Chevrolet Silverado. According to MG Motorsports, the Ford is powered by the 3.5-liter EcoBoost twin-turbo V6, and an aftermarket exhaust system. In addition, based on the quarter-mile time it achieved, we would guess that it has some other kind of performance-enhancing upgrades.

On the other hand, the Chevrolet Silverado in the right lane appears to be a stock, late-model truck, and the meager cries of a stock V8 can hardly be heard over the roar of the EcoBoost. In any case, whatever engine lives under the hood isn’t enough to keep the Chevy from getting pummeled.

The race begins shortly after the video kicks-off, and as soon as the 2015 Ford F-150 leaves the starting line the race is pretty much over. The EcoBoost engine launched the aluminum-bodied Ford out of the hole in a hurry, and the Chevy didn’t have the power to catch up.

In the end, the Ford wins by a big margin, and the person filming the race announces that the F-150 pickup ran a 13.6 quarter mile run. Not too shabby.
