TRUCK YOU! A Classic Baby Blue 1986 Ford F-250
Many people, especially those from younger generations, view older rides as “beaters.” They see them as something lesser — as though the people who own the classic rides don’t do so out of choice, but rather out of necessity.
While we’re sure that, from time to time, this may very well be the case, the fact is that many of those who own antique rides do so because they want to. There is just so much fun to be had with the classic rigs, so why not buy one and build it into the vehicle of your dreams?
FTE member Matthew (A.K.A. “FordFETruck“) is the proud owner of a classic ride himself, and we’re sure he’d vouch the the usefulness and joy he gets out of the older truck! Today we’ll step inside his garage and take a closer look at the rig that lies within.
While it certainly isn’t impossible to build a newer rig into the ride of one’s dreams, it is a little less, let’s say, justifiable. After all, why would someone wish to tear out the totally good engine from a 2015 F-150?
Even if the goal is to add performance parts to improve upon the ride, it’s hard to rationalize doing something this large just for that end goal. It’s much easier when the motor could use attention already.
Making repairs is the perfect time to do modifications to one’s truck, as we’re sure Matthew knows. His ride is a 1986 F-250, and it definitely isn’t stock! As it sits now, the truck has a Weiand Stealth intake, a Comp XE250H cam, Comp Magnum rockers, a Summit/Holley 600 CFM 4010 4V carburetor, and much more!
Despite the views that some people still seem to hold toward older vehicles, we’re glad to say that we’re strong supporters of the classics! It’s hard to beat a clean old rig, and Matthew knows it!
Go stop by his garage and leave some comments, browse the photography, and have a good time! Be sure to keep your garage up to date and maybe you’ll be featured next week on TRUCK YOU!
