TRUCK YOU! A 1971 Ford F-100 SWB Flareside
When it comes to old Ford trucks on the hot Texas streets, we’d say that we’re a fan. Though any classic Ford is a great addition to any area, we have to admit that they fit in down south better than just about anywhere else. Minimal rust, an old school look, and the power of Ford — what more could one wish for?
It’s just the perfect combination, especially when you mix all of that with the generally warmer temperatures that are common for the southernmost states. Less snow days, more warm nights for car meets, and the ability to put your windows down and enjoy the sun (well, at least for part of the year!).
FTE member hillcountryflt is the proud owner of several Ford rigs, though his current central ride is his 1971 F-100. Today we’ll step inside his garage and take a closer look at the truck within!
To be a bit more specific, hillcountryflt is the proud owner of a 1971 F-100 SWB Flareside. He is currently working on restoring the old rig back to what it was when it came from the factory, thought it thankfully won’t be too hard!
The ride is a rolling project, which is at least easier than taking a rust bucket that’s been stuck in the mud for thirty or more years and trying to bring it back to life. Hillcountryflt is currently working at removing the aftermarket air conditioning system from this rig, and then will also be pursuing bringing the wheels, tires, interior, and exterior of the vehicle back to factory specs. We definitely wish him luck!
Not everyone is up for the challenge of bringing a ride back to its former glory, which makes hillcountryflt’s endeavor even more admirable. In addition to his 1971 F-100, he also owns a 1969 F-100, a 2015 Ford Explorer XLT, a 2011 Mustang, and a 2010 Harley-Davidson Electra Glide Ultra Limited.
Go stop by his garage and leave some comments, browse the photography, and have a great time! Be sure to keep your garage up to date and maybe you’ll be featured next week on TRUCK YOU!
